How the typing test works
The timer starts with your first keystroke and stops when the last character is typed. Wrong characters are marked in red and have to be corrected before you can go on, so your result always reflects text that was typed correctly. One word counts as five characters including spaces.
What is a good result?
Most people type between 35 and 45 WPM. With 60 WPM you are faster than the majority, 80 WPM is fast and more than 100 WPM is professional level. Accuracy matters just as much: above 95 percent you rarely lose time fixing mistakes.
How to get faster
Take the test a few times in a row, because your first attempt is usually the slowest. Learn the touch typing system in our free lessons, keep your eyes on the screen and practice for 10 to 15 minutes every day. Your daily streak and the WPM history in your profile show your progress.
