A 15-Minute Daily Typing Practice Routine
Short daily sessions are the most effective way to improve your typing. This routine takes 15 minutes and works for beginners and experienced typists alike.
Minutes 0โ3: Warm-Up
Start slowly to get your fingers moving.
- Place your hands on the home row and check the bumps on F and J.
- Type one or two short texts at a comfortable, relaxed pace.
- Focus on clean keystrokes, not speed.
Minutes 3โ8: Focused Drills
Now work on your weaknesses.
- Open your letter statistics and pick the two or three letters with the lowest accuracy.
- Use the lessons for the level that includes those letters.
- Keep your accuracy above 95%. If it drops, slow down.
Minutes 8โ13: Real Text
Switch to full sentences with capitals and punctuation.
- Do three to five tests on the homepage.
- After each test, look at your accuracy and the letters you missed.
- Try to keep a steady rhythm instead of sprinting through easy words.
Minutes 13โ15: One Race
End with a bit of fun and pressure.
- Join a multiplayer race against other players or a bot.
- Racing shows you how you type under pressure, a good test of whether your technique holds up.
Weekly Check-In
Once a week, compare your results:
- Is your average speed going up?
- Is your accuracy stable or improving?
- Which letters still cause the most errors?
If your speed is stuck, go back to slower, more accurate practice for a few days. Plateaus are normal and usually break after a short phase of focusing on accuracy.
Tips to Stay Consistent
- Practice at the same time every day, for example before you start work.
- Keep your daily streak going. Missing a day is fine, missing a week breaks the habit.
- Set small goals, such as "+5 WPM this month".
Summary
Warm up, train your weak spots, type real text and finish with a race. Fifteen minutes a day is enough to make steady progress. For more ideas, read how to type faster.
